Artist Profile - Andy DodwellAndrew is a born and bred Herefordian whose family goes back 500 years. Trained at Hereford School of Art, Andrew started as a painter working in oils, watercolours and pastels. he has always done a lot of drawing and lifework. He is a successful sculpture working in bronze, lead, stone, wood and ceramics. An early inspiration was Gibbons, whose work he saw at Holme Lacy House, where he worked as a maintenance engineer. It was here that he was given some wood carving tools which started him on his sculpturing journey. He works to commission from various companies and individuals. His best known piece to date is the Pegasus, in lead, above the dome at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. He has also exhibited widely in London, Hereford, Ledbury and Malvern. He also exhibited and demonstrated his work at the Sculpture Exhibition at Croft Castle in the summer of 2002. On 6th July he will demonstrate a portrait in clay. he will also demonstrate on Wednesday 17th September, on both occasions from 2:30pm.
