Artist Profile - Chris Pye
Chris lives and works in Ewyas Harold where he has a large, efficient workshop. he has been a professional woodcarver for more than twenty years. His work ranges from lettering to heraldry, from large bedheads and fireplaces to small, delicate butterflies.
He has carvings in various public buildings, for example St. Michaels Church, bath, Bodnach House and Ashe House, Somerset. he has also had commissions from the Prince of Wales and has work in the Manchester Buddhist Centre.
Chris teaches regularly in the States and one to one with enthusiastic local students. He is a lifetime Buddhist and sees carving at its best as a form of meditation, where all aspects of his being are brought into focus behind the cutting edge.
