Artist Profile - David England
David England was born in the Black Country, but now lives and works in Herefordshire. He has been an artist all his life, although he never had a formal art training.
He first exhibited his paintings in Liverpool in 1975 and since then has had regular shows in the Marches and further afield. He has progressed from painting to collage and then to sculpture.
He recently exhibited his sculpture at the Kemble Gallery in Herefordshire.
The Sleeping Giant ‘Starlip’ came from this exhibition and is on permanent display in the garden. David exhibited in ‘Just Go Straight On’ recently in Ross to celebrate the life and work of Alfred Watkins.
He currently teaches at the Steiner Academy in Much Dewchurch and holds regular workshops at his home. Call him for more information.
“I love Cubism as a movement and so there is some of that in my pieces, combined with a sense of the spiritual without going down any religious roads. I fell more at home with the Earth love of the Celts than any other Christian symbolism.”
