Artist Profile - Martin DuffyMartin has been a professional figurative sculptor since 1996. He studied figurative sculpture at Stafford Art Collage, under the R.B.S sculptors Michael Talbot and Steven White, before this he was the assistant to the well established public art sculptor John McKenna RBS. Prior to this he was a professional woodcarver. Martin assisted Jonathan Wylder on all his large public and private commissions from 1996 to 2002 including the first Marquis of Westminster, Belgrave square The Scotsman, Edinburgh, Millennium Man, Tyringham hall, Mother Teresa, Calcutta and The Mermaid at Cowes. He has also worked as an assistant to other Sculptors including Irena Sedlecka RBS on the Beau Brummel monument in London. Since 2002 Martin has solely worked on his own work specialising in commissions mostly of children. I try to produce powerful dramatic sculptures with a beauty of form. Sculpture should be tactile, making the viewer want to interact physically as well as visually'. |
